Blog Post 5, The Deer

Updated: Feb 12

The continuous gurgling sound of the river was soothing. The mid-morning sun warmed the coolness. Immense gratitude and peace radiated from my heart. My mind was motionless and still. I sat, content, as the water cascaded past, appreciating my blessed immersion in such a divine consciousness. The rustling on the opposite bank drew my attention. A deer appeared. Cautiously she stepped into the flow. Wow! Apparently unaware of my presence, the doe continued crossing the river directly toward me. I had to take a photo. Slowly I reached into my pocket. She paused. As I raised my phone, switching it to camera mode, she looked directly at me. Hello. Love. She didn’t bolt. I took the photo. OMG! Yep, it was MG. She continued in my direction and then veered to the right, gently exiting the water just upstream.

Does God exist? Can I know God personally? Your heart holds the answers to those examples of frequently asked questions. How do you find answers in your heart? Every person is different and for everyone there is a teacher. The teacher for me on this day was amazing, a deer crossing the mountain river towards me. In addition to any immediate message that may have been apparent, I also like to reference the book by Jamie Sams and David Carson, Medicine Cards. I simply look up the animals that are obviously stepping into my path for a reason. My subconscious mind and my intellect have evidently coordinated the usage of this book to communicate truths. It works for me.

A paragraph about Deer, at the bottom of page 53, starts “Deer teaches us to use the power of gentleness to touch the hearts and minds of wounded beings who are trying to keep us from Sacred Mountain. Like the dappling of fawn’s coat, both the light and the dark may be loved to create gentleness and safety for those who are seeking peace.” It continues, “If Deer has gently nudged its way into your cards today, you are being asked to find the gentleness of spirit that heals all wounds. Stop pushing so hard to get others to change and love them as they are. Apply gentleness to your present situation and become like the summer breeze: warm and caring. This is your tool for solving the present dilemma you are facing. If you use it you will connect with Sacred Mountain, your centering place of serenity, and Great Spirit will guide you.”

Among many other methods that allow your heart and intellect to communicate simply opening a book to a random page, then reading what your eyes see. There are more developed practices such as applied kinesiology (AK) or manual muscle testing (MMT). Techniques like meditation, visualization, journaling, positive affirmations, dream analysis, and self-reflection can be used to bring your subconscious thoughts and feelings to the forefront of your awareness, allowing you to better understand and integrate them into your conscious mind. Again, a great reference for educational videos is the app broadcast GAIA Network. Choose the heart communication you like best.
